I'll be honest, I really struggle with humans and social conventions sometimes. Because people do things so glaringly stupid, I can't understand:

a. That it happens at all

b. That we, as a collective, just let it slide.

Now, it wouldn't be so bad if it was the big stuff. Questions like "Why the fuck, do we keep behaving as if the planet is an infinite resource?" or "Why, WHY, would you give hashtag#AI write access to your production database?"

I still get annoyed, but it's worth burning the calories to think about it. You know?

What irritates me the most, is when I get bothered by the little things. Shit that doesn't impact me directly, but I just can't accept it happens at all.

For instance; I open up LinkedIn to get some information and there in my feed is a post about hashtag#Anthropic cutting off hashtag#OpenClaw users. Instant eye roll from me. Undoubtably just another attempt to build engagement.

But then I see this gem: "My take after building AI systems for 12+ years", and I just can't.

How do people type those words and bash post? How do you look at your own writing, and think "Yep, that's a complete fabrication. I'll post it anyway. Tally-ho!!".

But let's not jump to conclusions, right? Maybe they are just being a little generous with what "AI" means? Perhaps they have a long career in Machine Learning?

Nope. They're a Magento developer. That got their CS degree in 2013 and have never worked in any role related to ML or AI.

This person makes no sense to me.

But what really does my head in, is the people engaging with them. 4,267 followers…

Why are thousands of people following a verifiable lier and boosting their content? Did they never bother to check? Do they simply not care? Is this just as good as we can do as a group?

I get people are playing the game of “I want attention to make money”, but I don’t think this kind of thing will ever make sense to me.
